Comparison of Miniaturized and Conventional Asymmetrical Flow Field-Flow Fractionation (AF4) Channels for Nanoparticle Separations.
Asymmetrical Flow Field-Flow Fractionation (AF4) is the most versatile fractionation technique amongst the different FFF variants. It is usually applied for the characterization of synthetic and biological macromolecules as well as proteins and nanomaterials. However, like in any chromatographic technique, also in the area of AF4 shorter analysis times are requested and pushed forward to increase through-put and save time and sample materials. Furthermore, sample dilution inside the fractionation channel can be a limiting factor for AF4 from being fully applied in trace level analysis. With the new AF4 micro channel, Postnova introduces a novel miniaturized fractionation channel, which enables:
- full compatibility with the existing Postnova FFF platform
- significantly reduced analysis times, sample/solvent consumption
- enhanced sensitivity for trace level analysis and precious samples
A detailed evaluation of the new Postnova AF4 micro channel has been recently published in the special issue “Size Separation Techniques” within the journal “Separations” and is available Open Access via the following link: http://www.mdpi.com/2297-8739/4/1/8
